Since I decided not to stop in Tallahassee, today is going to be a very, very long day. Meet up around 5am for breakfast with a friend in Slidell. Hit the road thereafter. Plenty of caffine to get me through the day has me stopping more frequently than I'd like. Since I'm out before sunrise, I am driving into the sun for several hours which is not pleasant.

Slidell is only a few minutes from the Mississippi border
Its fun seeing all the names of places I've only seen on maps or heard about across the gulf coasts of Mississippi and Alabama. Though its nearly impossible to get pictures since I am driving into the sun.

Somewhere in that glare is the Alabama state line

Finally, Florida!
The Florida state line is welcome relief, but Florida is like California, its a damn big state. Its three hours from Pensacola to Tallahassee, and another two to Lake City and the turn off for 75. A little bit of Red Bull in Ocala, money for the turnpike, and a pretty thunderstorm off in the distance has lifted my spirits. By the time I hit the Orlando Metro, I am wide awake and raring to go. The rest of the drive is familiar and oft performed and I roll into Melbourne around 530pm.
