My longest day so far. So I actually manage to get an early start an am on the road by 8 am. There was quite a bit of severe weather across the panhandle yesterday, in Amarillo and Lubbock, and I'd like to time my trip so that I get the convective intiation, but not the brunt of the storms. While I'd love to go chasing, chasing with a good bit of my worldly belonging and guinea pigs in the car is not quite what I have in mind.

Eastern NM, and the TX panhandle are flat. Flat, and fairly uneventful. Not only that, but the speed limit drops in TX! Why I don't know, but no one else seems to be following the drop in speed.

|
Don't mess with Texas. Unforunately I missed the signs that actually said that!

The largest cross in the Western Hemisphere (or so the sign said), east of Amarillo

Building cu off in the distance.

Still driving towards the cu. I could see this from the NM/TX border, and it turned out to be on the TX/OK border! What an optical illusion this flat land gives you.

I hear the chorus to the song "Oklahoma!" in my head

Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains...
Heavy rain in western OK, but nothing exciting. Get lost again, trying to find my hotel in Norman, working off of a two year old memory of when I was there for DLOC. Eat at the same Chinese restaurant I did before. I am now more than half way done, and officially tired of driving.
